Leeds Trinity University College offers students a great chance to study with leading scholars in their fields throughout their degree programme.

Research is a vital part of the experience of studying History at Leeds Trinity University College, and an integral part of the way the course is planned and delivered. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, (the mechanism by which the quality of research in universities across the United Kingdom is measured) the History group was ranked alongside departments in Universities such as Nottingham, Bristol, Lancaster and Newcastle, and as superior to the History departments in more than 25 Universities and Colleges, including Chester, Bolton, Liverpool Hope, Northumbria, Nottingham Trent, and York St John.

But what makes History at Leeds Trinity University College different is that our research does not take us away from teaching, leaving students to be tutored by research students and casual staff. All the research active staff in the department continue to make a significant contribution – at all levels – to the delivery of the History programmes. Our small size means that you’ll get to know us well, and have a real experience of learning in an environment enriched by active on-going research.

You’ll notice the difference this can make throughout your course, and especially when you undertake your own research work, as you will throughout the course, and especially at Level III, and in the specialist courses such as the Special Subjects, where students get the chance to became genuinely expert in a specific dynamic field of current historical studies.
