Misericordia International was established by Elaine C. Block (1925-2008) to further research and communication among scholars engaged in the study of medieval choir stall carvings and other profane arts of the Middle Ages. Our Society's fields of interest also cover the visual arts, music, dance and literature to the extent that they focus on the secular sphere.
