Department for Children, Young People and Families

The Department for Children, Young People and Families aspires to be recognised as a centre of excellence in its delivery of education studies.

Our ambition is to be the Department of choice for the professional development of the children’s workforce for the region. We will work in partnership with employers to provide meaningful development opportunities for professionals in these fields.

Working with children, young people and families is challenging, but can lead to great job satisfaction as our students aim to make a difference to a young person's life.  Our programmes provide the knowledge and skills to take on these roles at all levels, covering a wide range of subjects and areas that support children, young people and families.

The Department provides training, short courses, Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees and postgraduate qualifications for professionals working in the multi agency environment. Our work based learning programmes enable students to apply learnt skills and theory directly to practice.

Our full-time degree programmes also include professional placement, which will see you working in a setting of your choice applying your theoretical understanding to a practical experience.
