The competitive and often team based nature of business games, together with their "hands on" approach makes them very popular with students. Learning is serious but also fun.
The business games and simulations are particularly useful in terms of developing risk taking and enterprise skills. They are also of real benefit in making connections between the subject content of modules. The "real world" of business, on which the games are modelled, doesn't come in discrete "chunks" of knowledge or information. In order to solve a particular business problem knowledge of marketing, costing, operations management, stategy and human resource management might all have to be used together. It is this approach that the games seek to foster. They help students to avoid being blinkered in their thinking and problem solving.
The teaching rooms are all well equipped with interactive whiteboards, for example.
Use is being made of Moodle as a virtual learning environment to support and enhance the students' learning experience.
