Student magazine to relaunch
Trinty Press journalism students Leeds Trinity
Leeds Trinity’s student magazine is being relaunched this November under the name “TrinityPress”.

The magazine’s content will include news and features, film reviews, and sports coverage in a new-look A5 format. The 16-page first edition will be released during the first week of November, 2011.

Previously entitled “Square One”, the publication will be available at several locations around the uni’s campus, where students can pick up a copy free of charge. It will also be published on the Leeds Trinity intranet.

Editor David Spereall, a level 5 Journalism student, said: “We’re very excited to be starting this up again. With the quality of journalism that we have here at Trinity in both staff and students, I think it’s only right that there is a magazine that represents the student majority of the college.

“In our first edition, we’re throwing an invitation to anyone from any course who would like to come and write for us. The greater depth we have in numbers and quality, the better. We also want to hear from anyone who has a story they think we should publish.”

Deputy editor Chris White, an English and Media student, added: “It’s a brilliant initiative which allows Leeds Trinity and its students to spread their own word, whether it be the product of a vivid imagination, or a reaction to newsworthy topics.”

The magazine will be published on a monthly basis and will be printed by the marketing department, with the support and backing of journalism lecturers. The writers are also in the process of becoming an official LTU society, but will not be charging a membership fee for those wishing to contribute material.

Journalism lecturer Lindsay Eastwood said: “We are constantly encouraging our students to act as freelance journalists, find and write real stories, and to build up a portfolio of published work to impress future employers. Everyone who gets involved with Trinity Press will gain invaluable experience and opportunities.”
