More reasons to choose Leeds Trinity University
On this course, you’ll use ideas from subjects such as sociology, psychology, history, politics and film studies so there’s plenty of variety. Don’t worry if you’ve not studied all these yet. Our first year course gets you up to speed.
You’ll use reflections and experiences from your two professional placements too - in this course academic ideas are linked to what actually goes on in schools and universities. This professional experience is vital when applying for teacher training routes or when applying for careers in education.
Education Studies is UK focused, yet draws upon the international context. If you develop an interest in education overseas you could choose to study abroad during your degree. This life-enhancing opportunity offers a distinctive edge in the competitive international careers market.

taught in two schools and two universities, I enjoy bringing practical
experience to the programme as well as recent research. Most of my BA (Hons) Education
Studies teaching draws from sociology and history, looking at how education has
been, how it is now and how it could be in the future. My research uses feature
films as academic texts, and so I use film/TV clips alongside academic
literature and discussion, to get underneath questions such as ‘is educating
boys and girls together the best thing to do or just what we’re used to doing?
Academic staff profiles
(Hons) Education Studies is an education in itself. It’s also a good platform
from which to later apply for a teacher training course. The course analyses
big questions in education relevant to everyone. What’s the point of education? Have standards risen or fallen? Is assessment fair? Should students pay tuition
fees? The course draws upon academic literature, current affairs, film,
television and personal experiences to make issues come to life.
