Turn your passion for sport and health into your profession with a degree in one of our Sport, Health and Physical Education courses.

You'll get plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience of the latest sports technology, equipment, facilities and innovations. You'll learn from active researchers and practitioners, who'll use their extensive industry experience and links to give you the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for now.

When you choose to study at Leeds Trinity, you’re choosing a university that’s committed to making you as employable as possible.

We’re one of the only universities to build professional work placements into every degree, meaning you graduate with degree-relevant experience, employer contacts and references without having to take a year out. Our students have worked with professional sports clubs and strength and conditioning coaches, as well as working with primary and secondary schools, human kinetics publishers and personal trainers.

But did you know that we also build professional qualifications into many of our Sport, Health and Nutrition degrees – at no extra cost?

Depending on the degree you choose, you’ll have the chance to complete your Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Training and/or Level 3 Exercise Referral at no extra cost, saving you up to £2000:

  • BSc Exercise, Health and Fitness - Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • BSc Exercise, Health and Nutrition - Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • BSC Sport and Exercise Sciences - Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • BSc Sport and Exercise Sciences (Sports Nutrition) - Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • BSc Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation - Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • BSc Strength and Conditioning - Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Exercise Referral

These qualifications are pre-requisites for many jobs in health and fitness.

By achieving them, you will open the doors to degree-relevant part-time jobs while you’re at university. You’ll also enhance your and widen your career options for when you graduate.

These qualifications will also give you access to the Register of Exercise Professional, which is the largest independent public register for the Health and Fitness Industry in the UK. Not only does this officially recognise your qualifications and expertise, but it also gives you access to a programme of continuing professional development throughout your career.

Sport and Health Foundation Year

If you have the capacity to undertake degree-level study, but may not have the required entry requirements to do so, Leeds Trinity offers you an alternative way in to university with our Foundation Year degrees. This initial one-year period of study allows you to develop your academic skills and confidence through undertaking four 30-credit 'Level 0' modules before progressing on to three years of undergraduate study.

Placement opportunities

We're one of only a few UK universities to include professional work placements with every undergraduate degree, which you can complete in the UK or abroad.

Our students have completed placements at a wide range of organisations including primary and secondary schools, personal training providers, county sports partnerships and national governing bodies for sport, such as the Football Association, Rugby Football League and England Netball, youth work teams, the NHS and non-government agencies.
