Journalism Week - November 2015 programme
Sky Sports' Presenter, Jeff Stelling opened the week on Monday 16 November with a keynote speech, drawing on his journalism career of nearly 40 years. Students had the chance to join a special debate about local TV hosted by the Royal Television Society. Is it vanity, or sanity? Taking part in the debate was Dave McCormack, Chief Operating Officer of Made Television, Chris Johnson, CEO of Bay TV in Liverpool and Chair of the Local TV Network, and Martin Corrigan, Board Director of global media agency Mediacom.
There was also a representative from Hello York, a group preparing to launch a new local TV channel for York. Joining Jeff, Dave, Chris and Marin was high-profile journalists representing a range of broadcast, print, online and social media outlets including The Guardian, BuzzFeed and Sky News.
