St Mary's College

Leeds Trinity University > St Mary's College

St Mary's College is the lead school in a School Direct partnership between Leeds Trinity University, Archbishop Sentamu Academy and the Catholic family of primary schools in Hull and the East Riding region.

This includes St Charles, St John of Beverley, Endsleigh Holy Child, St Mary Queen of Martyrs and St Richards.
St Mary's College, judged 'outstanding' (Ofsted 2010), is a National Support School and will ensure that you receive high-quality training, mentoring and coaching in a supportive and caring environment.

The Leeds Trinity School Direct programme will prepare you for your career in teaching and has a high success of employment upon completion of the course. All St Mary's College School Direct trainees in 2012-13 successfully completed the course, and are now employed as teachers across the country, including St Mary's College.

St Mary's College delivers professional primary and secondary school teacher training. The course is designed to develop teaching and learning through immersive school-based experience and reflective practice, organised into three stages.

You will have the opportunity to pursue a specific area of personal interest and specialism during Stage 3, and be qualified to Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Level 6 with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on successful completion. You can also choose to gain 60 additional Master credits to achieve Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Level 7 as part of Continued Professional Development (CPD) following the course.
St Mary's College partnership is a distance partnering school with Leeds Trinity. The school-centred nature of the training programme means you will be based in two different Catholic primary schools for the full academic year. Your school placements will provide a variety of experience and teaching practice, build your confidence and classroom excellence and will equip you for the reality of your NQT year. You will be taught one day a week by university academic staff and subject specialists from the partnership schools.
