​​​​​​The Pathways Partnership comprises a group of 16 Leeds schools working in a diverse range of social contexts.  ​We are committed to providing first-class learning opportunities for children and adults to develop the next generation of inspirational teachers.

​Pathways Partnership provides a high quality route into effective teaching, supporting you in your career as a student, an NQT and beyond.  Previous trainee teachers within the partnership have been successfully employed in our schools, with an NQT programme to ensure that they continue to flourish as professionals in this exciting world of primary education. 

Our lead school, Beechwood Primary, was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in April 2015

About the programme

Pathways Partnership provides each trainee with an excellent opportunity to train i​n two of its successful schools through a bespoke programme designed in partnership with Leeds Trinity University.  In addition, the strong collaborative nature of the partnership provides trainee teachers with the opportunity to link with outstanding practitioners and specialists across all 16 schools.

Your year will be predominantly based in school but will comprise 3 distinct stages:-

  • Stage 1: In this stage you will receive intensive support and training from the university, giving you the skills, knowledge and understanding to prepare you for your block placement.
  • Stage 2: Provides you with the opportunity to develop and practise your skills as a primary teacher alongside experienced practitioners.  A dedicated school based mentor will support you through this process.
  • Stage 3: This stage enables you to consolidate and apply your skills and knowledge through an 80% teaching timetable.  The Pathways Partnership will support transition into your first teaching appointment.  

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet our minimum requirements set out below:
  • A degree at 2.2 or above
  • GCSE English, mathematics and science at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of the Professional Skills tests for literacy and numeracy

​Successful Applicants must 

  • Meet the 'national requirements' (degree, GCSEs, DBS check, health clearance)
  • Have good subject knowledge at degree level
  • Have some subject curriculum knowledge
  • ​Have recent experience in a school or schools or other relevant experience​

Fees & Funding

The tuition fee for this training programme is £9,000. 

Government grants and loans for teacher training programmes are available. Bursaries of £3,000 are available for students with an upper second or first class honours degree.
