Stage one: group interview
The group interview is the first stage of the interview process and is an important guide to how well you work and perform in a group situation. Successful applicants will then be invited to a second stage individual interview.
We expect successful applicants at stage one to be personable, able to communicate clearly and succinctly, and well presented.
The group interview is a half-day process and will include the opportunity to take a tour of our campus
You'll be expected to prepare for the interview by considering the topics and leading a discussion.
Following the group interviewSuccessful applicants of the group interview stage will be invited to attend an individual interview that takes place either on campus at Leeds Trinity or at one of our partnership schools. Interviews are sent by email and posted no later than 48 hours after the group interviews. Further details will be provided in the invitation letter. Applicants that are successful at the second stage are then offered a place on the course programme.
- Before the interview day, confirm your attendance/non-attendance at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you cannot attend your scheduled group interview day you must inform us immediately, stating clearly your name, the date of the group interview that you cannot attend and your reason for non-attendance. The time restrictions imposed by UCAS mean we are unable to offer an alternative date and therefore it's likely that you would have to apply again at the next stage of applications. Make sure you inform us of any disability needs you may have so that we can best support you on the interview day. If you do not contact us, it will be assumed that you no longer wish your application to be considered. If you confirm attendance with us and then fail to attend the interview day, your application will also be rejected by default.
- Once you have accepted your place on the course programme, the Admissions team will write to you with all the relevant documentation that you will need to bring to confirm qualifications and complete a DBS.
Stage two: individual interviewSuccessful candidates that successfully complete stage one of the group interviews will proceed to the second stage of the interview process. This is an individual interview that will be held on campus at Leeds Trinity.
Co-operative Academies Trust
Successful applicants at this stage tend to have a good awareness of the primary curriculum taught in schools through research time spent in schools talking to teachers and pupils.
PGCE programmes with a specialism
Applicants that have applied to programmes with a specialism, for example PGCE with Mathematics or PGCE with PE, and been successful at Stage one: group interview, you will need to prepare a teaching task as explained above. In addition, an element of your interview will focus on your specialist area.
