Leeds Trinity University provides PGCE Initial Teacher Training (ITT) courses that allow you to choose the way you'd prefer to study. We provide a variety of study routes into teaching for Primary Education
and Secondary Education
A step-by-step guide to the application process
Choose a study route that best suits your needs. We offer:
• Schools Direct
• School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)
Apply through the online UCAS Teacher Training website:
• Applicants can make three choices
• There’s no set deadline, but once the course is full, it will be removed from the UCAS website
• Complete all sections of the application form in full
You will be notified that you’ve been invited to an Interview Day or your application has been unsuccessful. Updates are provided through the UCAS Track website. Applicants that have been invited to an interview will be sent an email with details of the time and location. Stage One group interviews determine whether applicants will be invited to a Stage Two individual interview. These will take place on separate days with the exception of Provider-led courses. Both interviews then occur on the same day.
You’ll be notified by letter if you’ve been made an offer or unsuccessful following the interview stage. UCAS Track will also be updated. All offers are conditional on the following criteria being met:
• Produce evidence of qualifications
• DBS check
• Medical check
• Successful completion of QTS skills tests in literacy and numeracy
Accept or decline offers through UCAS Track.
Present documents requested in the offer letter in person at Leeds Trinity University, Student Administration office (AM36).
The offer will become unconditional on UCAS Track once all conditions are met.
What happens next? You’ll receive information about bursaries in July. Registration information is sent in August and the course will start in September.

GCSE equivalency tests
Applicants who have been offered a place on our PGCE courses that do not meet our GCSE requirements for Mathematics, English language or Science will be required to pass the equivalency test(s). Each test costs £70 per subject which also includes one hour of tuition for Mathematics and English.
You will be sent further details if you're offered a place on the course and if it's a condition of your offer to pass an equivalency test.
