In your first year of the programme you will study a range of modules covering a broad range on business disciplines, including:
Operations Management – The nature and role of operations, product and process design, planning and control of capacity and TQM.
Marketing Fundamentals – Market analysis, service and retail marketing in practice and the use of market research, e-commerce and social media.
Management and Financial Accounting – Financial accounting and budgeting, variance analysis and models of costing and cost control, IFRS and financial reporting.
Business Economics – Models of resource allocation and the market economy, theories of consumer demand and business supply in an international context, globalisation and the economics of transnational trade.
Ethics and Society – business ethics and cultural applications, fair trade and models of cooperation, corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
Management- Organization structures, human resources systems and employees management , management competencies, and management theory and practical applications.
From the second year, your modules become more specialised, with some core modules which might include: Financial Management where you will look at aspects such as the UK and global banking system, asset and company valuation techniques, corporate dividend policy and optimal capital structures, traditional and modern views. Other modules include People Management where you will gain theoretical management and leadership modules and apply these in practice. You will develop qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches and techniques through your Business Research module and you will also undertake your second professional work placement in your second semester.
In your third year, you will have a range of core and optional modules. These may include Business and Management Strategy where you will look into the analysis of the inter-related nature of the environment in which business organisations exist and the implications for the way they work. International Management focuses on general management set in an international context. You will look at the various approaches to management, motivation and leadership. International Marketing which looks at market and consumer diversity, cultural approaches to communication and brand building, as well as, Digital Marketing becoming imperative in today’s environment, you will gain a comprehensive guide to all aspects of analysing and deploying e-marketing within an organisation from creation through to the implementation of the e-marketing strategy. You will complete your year with your Research Project which will be based on an International Business or Business theme.
