This year will introduce you to the basics in software development, how a technology system works and how a technology business operates. This knowledge will feed into the central team project where you will apply your knowledge to an employer challenge. You'll also go on your first five-week placement.
You will further develop your programming skills in Year 2 with new languages, effective programming techniques and disruptive technologies. You'll also learn how to put the customer at the centre of product design and prototyping. During the team project you'll be work with third year students to deliver a solution to a business brief. You will be using the latest software tooling technologies such as Git Hub and Cucumber that are used by leading businesses.
Final year students develop projects to pitch to clients and then lead teams, designing and developing digital products. Your understanding of the commercial aspects of digital development, product design, programming, testing, and overall project management skills are honed in your final year. Professional placement modules allow you to put your skills to work, or start new businesses. Specialist modules will enable you to work on the most forward-looking areas of the industry, such as augmented reality, cyber security, user experience and network engineering.
