You will explore aspects of cultural innovation and revolution, but also persistent survival of past objects, values, and outlooks. What makes our English and History programme distinct is the way all these elements are combined and integrated.
You will be able to learn how to analyse literature by considering historical culture and how to analyse the historical past through the analysis of texts, images, and artefacts.
The professional practice modules at each level provide extended experiences which will inform and challenge your knowledge and understanding of academic content and creative practice. These modules are supported by the University’s existing links with organisations such as museums, galleries, literary editors, publishers, and magazine and blog writers in Leeds.
Our emphasis on professional engagement is designed to draw together a range of creative skills so that you can acquire an understanding of the professional need for the skills you are learning and the range of employment opportunities that are open to you.
