Course Overview

The MBA (Finance) is a postgraduate programme designed to meet the needs and requirements of both recent graduates and established professionals who are seeking to deepen and develop their expertise in corporate finance. The programme will maximise opportunities for you to reflect on your existing knowledge, experience and practice and seeks to equip you with the skills and expertise required to enhance your existing role or prepare you for building a career in accounting or financial management roles.

The programme makes extensive use of online and other regularly updated resources to ensure that you are well informed and at work at the cutting edge of finance related disciplines. Most course tutors are experienced business managers in their own right, or professionals with strong links to developing and current practice in their own specialist fields.

Course Information

About this course >

Taught in well-equipped and modern facilities, the programme employs a range of teaching and learning methods, including enquiry based learning, action learning and traditional teaching. Classes are organised to include seminars and tutorials, supported by guided research and reading.

​Assessment takes various forms, from research based assignments to written examinations, with full tutor support and regular formative feedback in preparation for final submissions.

Part time study is not available for international students on a Tier 4 Student Visa.​

Modules are assessed by a variety of means, including essays, reports, unseen examinations and work-based projects.

Entry Requirements >

An honours degree (at 2:2) in an accounting, finance or business related discipline.

Or equivalent/relevant professional qualification or experience of at least five years.

If English is not your first language IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any component) or equivalent is the minimum requirement.​

Additional Costs
We advise students to budget for the following in addition to annual tuition fees:
  • Recommended and required reading lists will be provided at the start of your course. All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own. We recommend £390* as an average annual budget for learning resources if you decide this is for you. *This figure is based on the Department of Work and Pensions course costs allowance 2015
  • The University provides students with a £6 printing credit each academic year which can be topped up either on campus or online.
