Foundation degrees are work-based, higher education qualifications that have been designed to enhance and broaden your professional knowledge and give you the opportunities to develop, progress and gain recognition of skills in a formal qualification and can lead to an honours degree following completion of a one-year top-up course.
The programmes have been developed in the multi-agency context. They are suited to people who support children and families in a wide range of integrated services including social, health care, education, voluntary, probation, charity, young offender, early years, child care and youth services.
Our work-based learning Level 6 Top-Up degrees are designed to be undertaken on completion of a foundation degree or other Level 5 qualification, in an area related to early years care and education and/or the support of children and families. They are ideal preparation for postgraduate training and education and/or a career in leadership in an early years setting or children’s centre.
You will have the opportunity to develop subject expertise, while engaging with current debate and professional practice. You will be introduced to new concepts and higher order skills such as synthesis and critical evaluation, and you will be supported in this by a specially designed induction programme.
