Leeds Trinity University is proud to be part of AD:​VENTURE, a business support programme aimed at helping businesses with real growth potential to achieve their ambitions.

If you are thinking of starting a business or you've recently launched your own business, it's less than three years old and based in the Leeds City Region, we can offer you support. We are looking to support businesses that have ambitions to grow and create jobs. 

If you are starting - or have just started - a business then you probably will need help at some point with the following:

  • Cash flow and financial management
  • Sourcing investment, finance or funding
  • Problem solving

Build a Website for your Business – No Coding Needed with Liz Cable

Wednesday 29 January
9.30am – 4.30pm​
This workshop will give you the practical tools and skills to build your own website and get yourself noticed online. In addition, you’ll learn how to kick-start your marketing so you can start driving traffic to your site – with some great tips and tricks. 


Marketing for Small Businesses on a Low-to-Zero Budget – Parts 1 and 2 with Mark Sebright

Find out about a range of low-to-zero cost marketing activities that will make a difference to your business performance. ​


Social Media Breakfast with Liz Cable

Every session will have a dos and don’ts for every platform, and we’ll make sure you look like a professional from your very first update. We go beyond simple marketing tips to building relationships and finding your own tribe, whilst gaining a reputation for expertise in your niche.

Would you like some advice about how to market your product, create a PR campaign, price your products, understand cash flow and budgets, how to register your intellectual property or just someone to run your business idea by to see if it is viable?

5.30 – 8.30pm​

This workshop looks at the reasons and requirements relating to registering for VAT and crucially at what API software is and practically evaluates the use of the Cloud and packages currently available or in development.


Business Advice Café Experts

Liz Cable – Area of expertise: Social Media
Liz Cable is a strategic social business consultant and senior lecturer in Digital and Social Media at Leeds Trinity University. Liz has been teaching social media since the launch of Twitter in 2006.  She will help your with solve your social media queries. “Liz is so knowledgeable on this massive topic, clear, very helpful.”

Mark Sebright – Area of expertise: Marketing
Mark is a qualified marketing consultant with over 25 years’ experience. He runs his own marketing agency and is a senior lecturer at Leeds Trinity University. “Mark knew how to talk to me, and how to get the best for my business.”

Amy Lund – Area of expertise: Public Relations 
Amy offers expertise and consultancy on journalism, feature writing, online content, PR, promotions and Work Based Learning. She joined LTU as a Senior Lecturer in Journalism and PR and is the Postgraduate Journalism Course Leader.  "I feel much more confident to work on PR now"

Andy Gilliland – Area of expertise: Business and Finance
Andy is an expert in Business finance and accounting, with a special interest in Top and Bottom line growth, business development, new business finance and business incubation. He is currently Academic Group Leader of Trinity Business, based at Leeds Trinity University. “Andy was great, I enjoyed being able to share my thoughts and moans but be challenged to do something about my issues.”

Scott Sellars – Area of expertise: Intellectual Property
Accredited through the UK Intellectual Property Office and Coventry University, Scott helps businesses to identify, evaluate and protect their intellectual property. Scott currently works for the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce delivering one to one and group IP awareness sessions.

Kris Keighley – Area of expertise: General Business Advice and Grant Eligibility
Business Adviser for Ad:Venture Leeds & Bradford – Providing general start up advice to pre-start and young businesses as well as routes to finance and grant eligibility

Finance and funding 

Grants from £2,500 to £25,000 are available for start-ups and businesses under three years old.

Eligibility

There are some sectors that are not eligible for this project, unfortunately. They are primary agriculture, banking and financial services, activities related to education or social care, and those sectors trading directly with consumers such as retail and hospitality.
