Leeds Trinity University is proud to officially launch the LGBT+ Staff Network as part of LGBT+ History Month, and we celebrate by presenting the rainbow version of the Leeds Trinity logo as a mark of solidarity with the LGBT+ community.

As a group, the network want to ensure we are as inclusive as possible, which is why we have chosen to identify with the new version of the rainbow flag that incorporates an additional black and brown stripe to represent LGBT+ community members with a BAME heritage. Though we appreciate there are arguments on both sides of the discussion regarding the new and old version of the rainbow flag, the Leeds Trinity LGBT+ Staff Network are keen to be at the forefront of the campaign for equality and inclusion, and this starts by acknowledging and respecting the diversity of our members and ensuring visibility for groups who experience marginalisation in the LGBT+ Community.

The Leeds Trinity University LGBT+ Staff Network is a space for members and allies of the LGBT community to share insights, socialise, and discuss and implement developments on campus that will have a positive impact in line with the University policy on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Over the coming open/closed meetings, we will be looking to address any concerns network members may have generally, as well as managing any individual concerns around the treatment of members of the community on a day-to-day basis.

The group will observe and celebrate key dates in the annual calendar - (Pride for example) in a manner that allows us to raise the profile of the LGBT experience and celebrate with our friends and allies on campus. Open group meetings are available to anyone wishing to be part of a positive movement for change for the LGBT community. Closed groups are designed solely for those who identify as LGBT+, to allow disclosure of sensitive issues in a safe environment if required.

If you have any enquiries regarding open or closed meeting dates, or the nature of the network, please email network chair Christopher Hulme c.hulme@leedstrinity.ac.uk. Any enquiries made will be confidential.
