Leeds Trinity Graduation
Catholic Identity
As a Catholic University College, Leeds Trinity draws on an unparalleled tradition of scholarship which stretches back more than two millennia.
This tradition celebrates the capacity of human reason to understand reality. Moreover, it points to Christ as the one who reveals the complete truth about God and about the human person.

Being situated in this tradition, Leeds Trinity is an inclusive institution. It seeks to help all who live and work here to flourish. It promotes dialogue and upholds academic freedom as a prerequisite of authentic learning. As a participant in dialogue, Leeds Trinity always adheres to the teaching of the Catholic Church. Leeds Trinity considers the presence of members of staff and students who belong to other Christian denominations or religious traditions or who do not profess a faith to be a source of enrichment.

The Catholic identity of Leeds Trinity is articulated in a number of other ways: namely, the maintenance of a full and varied worship programme in the chapel; the training of religious education teachers for the Catholic sector; an institutional commitment to fostering the common good of society; the importance which is attributed to the pastoral care of staff and students; the work of the Chaplaincy to build community and catechise; the fostering of a Christian ethos which will help those who work here to feel properly valued; the many initiatives which connect Leeds Trinity with the Catholic Church both nationally and internationally; and the sponsoring of regular ecumenical and interfaith events.

Our strategic plan is based on principles of Catholic teaching about society and education.

We recently agreed a joint statement  about our Catholic identity with the two other Catholic University Colleges in England – Newman in Birmingham, and St Mary’s in Twickenham.
