Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses
Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses help you gain the depth of subject knowledge you need to teach your chosen subject. The courses will help you identify your individual training needs and top up your subject knowledge in areas that would be difficult to address on your own.
They are aimed at those people who have already been offered a place on a PGCE or other ITT course, but whose place is subject to completion of an SKE programme. You cannot apply directly to complete a SKE course - you must have an offer of a place on an ITT course first.

Applying (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and MFL)
Acceptance for the mathematics, science and NFL SKE courses is only possible if applicants have been offered a place on a course of initial teacher training (ITT) commencing in the forthcoming academic year. To apply for the SKE course it is therefore necessary to apply for an initial teacher training course that is due to start in 2012/13. An offer of a place on a PGCE would then be made subject to satisfactory completion of an enhancement course.
Once you have this place on an ITT course confirmed, you should complete and return the application form below.
Applying (RE*)
The SKE RE course is designed for those people starting a PGCE RE course in 2012/13 or 2013/14. As this is not a DFE funded course, you are not required to have a confirmed place on an ITT course prior to applying for the SKE course - just complete and return the application form below.

You will not have to pay any fees to complete a mathematics, science or MFL SKE course.
