Sean O'Brien

Task Researcher for Celebrity Big Brother, January 2015 series

Sean returned by popular demand for the second year running as a guest speaker for Leeds Trinity's Enterprise and Employability week.  He delivered an inspiring talk to students about "How to get into TV".

Since graduating, Sean has worked on a number of shows including BBC Entertainment North, Snog Marry Avoid, Britain's Got Talent, Big Brother and the Apprentice. He was successful in getting a job at the BBC four days after graduating and emphasised to students the importance of utilising all the tools and equipment available to build up your skills portfolio in a highly competitive environment.  Sean also stressed the importance of professional work placements Leeds Trinity students are able to take advantage of.

Sean's current role on Celebrity Big Brother involves thinking of tasks to engage guests with while in the house, all of which need to be new and original.  The show will be screened in January 2015 and he stated being part of the show was a dream come true, "I wanted to work on this show all my life!"

Sean spoke of his delight about returning to campus again and took some extra time after his talk to speak to Alumni Relations Officer, Brett Arnall.

How does it feel to be back on campus again?

It's really interesting to see how much the campus has changed and great to see happy students and old lecturers.  It's also nice to return to the north as I'm currently based down south in Shepherds Bush.

How do you feel Leeds Trinity University supported you?

My time here was really useful as a student and the placement I was able to undertake was a huge bonus. I also benefitted from extra-curricular support from Careers and Employability team, they really helped me get a foot in the door.

What three words would you use to describe Leeds Trinity University?

Creative, realistic and engaging.

What excites you most about working on Celebrity Big Brother?

I'm really excited to hear the full line up, it's kept very secret! I am really looking forward to seeing my own ideas being used on the show.
